Job Description Summary:
Position Overview: The Senior Contracts Manager will be part of the Global Licensing & Retail team and will directly interface with business managers and legal counsel to direct and manage contract generation, trademark registrations, infringements, collections, and other legal aspects of the licensing and retail business. The role will have a high degree of collaboration across the Company’s internal and external stakeholders including business, legal, finance, quality assurance as well as system suppliers, agencies, licensees and external counsel in support of the Global Licensing & Retail business.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with business managers and agencies around the world to ensure timely delivery of license agreements and other legal documentation (e.g., registrations, recordation, breaches, etc), support negotiations, assess risk, formulate solutions and escalate as needed to other legal functions including TM, Trade Sanctions and Litigation.
- Monitor, manage and track all aspects of the licensee and agency agreements including contract generation, amendments, renewals, and related correspondence under the guidance of legal counsel but with a high level of independence and autonomy.
- Lead, coach, and develop L&R Contracts Processing Coordinator and guide paralegal support (when available).
- Support licensee invoicing, tracking and collection efforts by analyzing internal information and liaising with legal, business and finance managers.
- Manage information and requests related to trademark use and searches in connection with licensing matters, including research, budget management, and directions for use. Collaborate with trademark department on process and approach for trademark infringement matters.
- Use strategic thought leadership, digital tools and systems to create and manage processes for licensing team to streamline work and increase efficiency.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
Functional Sills:
- Effective communication skills (listening, written, oral and presentation).
- Advanced level of comfort working with lengthy and complex agreements.
- Knowledge of contractual and legal procedures.
- Knowledge of licensing industry and related business processes.
- High attention to accuracy and detail.
- Elevated level of flexibility with capability to self-manage and thrive in ambiguity.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills to interact with and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly result oriented and able to work in a high-energy, dynamic environment.
Skills:
Pay Range:
$133,000 - $160,000Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
Annual Incentive Reference Value Percentage:
15Annual Incentive reference value is a market-based competitive value for your role. It falls in the middle of the range for your role, indicating performance at target.
