Host / Hostess

Description

The restaurant Host is responsible for providing an excellent first impression to guests entering the restaurant, greeting and seating guests for dining service and assisting with staff efforts to provide a quality dining experience.  Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years old and available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The work schedule will be dictated by business, but candidates should typically be available to work 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm with daytime hours on weekends through Labor Day. 

• Warmly greets guests upon arrival and ensures their comfort, if waiting.
• Plans and coordinates timely seating of guests.
• Escorts guests to table and provides menus and wine list.
• Makes menu recommendations and provides information on resort activities, as needed.
• Provides fair distribution of tables to servers while maximizing restaurant seating. 
• Assists with providing quality service by informing servers of guest issues or special requests. 
• Responds courteously to guests and customers with correct information regarding our restaurants, menus, and hours of operation.
• Maintains contact with chef providing information to kitchen regarding reservations and volume of customers.
• Completes assigned side work.
• Communicates, coordinates and takes direction from the Food & Beverage Director and Managers.

• Demonstrates teamwork and positive demeanor.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to talk, hear and speak with others using clear and professional language.
• Must be able to endure long periods of sitting, standing or walking in a hot, humid environment.
• Will be occasionally required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 15 pounds without assistance.
• Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel. 
• Drive vehicle for performance of duties.

Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent. Also, open to students under 18 with valid youth employment certificate.  
• One year previous experience in a fine dining establishment, preferred.
