The Role
The Senior Director, Tennis Industry Outreach & Engagement is a key leadership team member responsible for expanding the influence and adoption of USTA Coaching programs across the tennis industry. This role oversees three critical pillars: Facility advocacy, USTA Section engagement, and strategic partnerships. This individual will lead industry engagement efforts to solidify USTA Coaching as the gold standard for coach education, employment, and professional development.
Facility Advocacy & Integration
- Develop and implement a national strategy to increase USTA Coaching coach employment and membership adoption within tennis facilities, clubs, and academies.
- Advocate for USTA Coaching as the preferred source for coach acquisition, education, and professional development.
- Promote the use of the USTA Coaching Job Board, ensuring facilities list open coaching positions and seek talent within the USTA Coaching membership base.
- Work with facilities to enroll their existing coaches in USTA Coaching membership, emphasizing the benefits of education, affinity program, and career resources.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify facility needs, develop tailored engagement strategies, and address coaching supply-and-demand challenges.
USTA Section Engagement & Community Collaboration
- Oversee the department that will serve as the primary liaison between USTA Coaching and USTA Sections as it relates to USTA Coaching initiatives, ensuring alignment on coach development initiatives and industry-wide goals.
- Work with Sections to integrate USTA Coaching programs at the local level, including educational events, mentorship opportunities, and networking initiatives.
- Understand and support community-level coach programming conducted by USTA Sections, identifying best practices and opportunities for collaboration.
- Facilitate regular communication and training sessions with Section leaders to enhance their ability to promote USTA Coaching within their networks.
- Collaborate with internal Section Development team to ensure collaborative approach to section engagement and support.
Strategic Partnerships & Industry Relations
- Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships that generate revenue and/or enhance the reach of USTA Coaching’s brand, education, and membership services.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate sponsors, governing bodies, grassroots organizations, and industry influencers to advance USTA Coaching’s mission.
- Drive collaborative initiatives that create new opportunities for coach education and professional growth.
- Ensure all partnerships align with USTA Coaching’s strategic objectives and deliver measurable value to coaches, facilities, and the broader tennis ecosystem.
Leadership & Operational Execution
- Lead a team focused on industry outreach, ensuring strong execution of engagement initiatives and partnerships.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of facility advocacy, Section engagement, and partnership efforts.
- Collaborate with USTA Coaching leadership on strategic planning, budget management, and long-term growth initiatives.
- Represent USTA Coaching at national and industry events, serving as a key advocate for coach development and workforce sustainability.
- Collaborate with internal Tennis Industry & Sales team on facility and partnership relationship management and advocacy.
Who You Are
- 10+ years of experience in business development, partnership management, facility relations, or program integration within sports, coaching, or education industries.
- Proven success in building strategic partnerships and managing industry-wide relationships.
- Strong understanding of the tennis facility landscape and the role of coaches in player development.
