Overview
Seeking a Senior Director Cloud Engineering to join our growing team. This strategic role will be responsible for building a new team of cloud engineers, who will deploy secure and scalable cloud infrastructure at high speed. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in cloud and on-premise technologies, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of reliable delivery in complex and fast paced environments.
The Senior Director, is a leader with a proven track record of leading teams directly or indirectly to design, deliver, and support technology solutions that meet business needs. The job requires a transformational mindset and focus, to deliver an exceptional experience for stakeholders. Also required is the ability to map business stakeholder needs and requirements to standardized infrastructure solutions. This role requires technical expertise in a complex environment with strong business acumen and a strategic solutioning mindset.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the full cycle of Cloud Platform Engineering, CloudOps and development from architecture, design, deployment, and support.
- Cloud Strategy: Design and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy that is aligned with business stakeholder goals. The strategy must be focused on cost effective cloud infrastructure that are reliable and secure, and delivered consistently through standardized and automated processes.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment while ensuring team members are motivated, engaged, and empowered to excel.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: The Cloud Engineering team will design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions using industry best practices, ensuring high availability, security, performance, reliability, resiliency, and scalability.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the cloud computing environment, including monitoring, incident response, patching, currency updates, capacity planning, and performance optimization. Where possible, leverage enterprise tools and processes that span across on-premise and cloud environments, resulting in consistent unified infrastructure management practices.
- Automation: Promoting an “automation-first” culture within the team. Drive automation initiatives to streamline provisioning, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring processes.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security practices, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with cloud service providers and internal teams to negotiate contracts, optimize costs, and stay up to date with the latest cloud offerings and trends.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, cost savings, and performance optimization, and lead initiatives to implement improvements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other SGWS teams, including software development, DevSecOps, data engineering, Infrastructure engineering teams, and IT support operations, to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with other systems.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 12+ years in infrastructure architecture, management, security, and related specialties
