The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

Compensation: $ 63,240. - $ 88,536.

The Program Manager, Social Studies (9-12), is responsible for developing, planning, managing, supporting, organizing, and implementing social studies programs. The Program Manager, Social Studies (9-12), supports the District’s goal of every student graduating from high school being college and career-ready.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides direction and leadership in the development of social studies curriculum for all schools.
• Promotes effective instructional practices and communication that support high levels of instruction through the research-based data driven best practices, effective classroom consultation and program evaluation
• Assists in reviewing and evaluating results of District-wide assessment programs and recommends appropriate modifications to the social studies curriculum
• Monitors District data to determine trends and in turn develops and implements the most effective strategies for meeting and exceeding District and state achievement goals
• Leads a process for the evaluation, selection, and acquisition of instructional materials, supplies, equipment and textbooks to support the social studies curriculum
• Assists administrators and teachers in improving social studies instruction
• Assists in the planning and development of District and school-wide professional development for teachers to assist in raising the level of instructional performance and student achievement in social studies
• Coordinates professional development for elementary, middle school and high school social studies teachers
• Represents the District or the Curriculum Department on selected committees and/or at selected meetings
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with parents and the community to support District goals and program objectives
• Engages in continuous learning through professional reflection and active collaboration with colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Master’s Degree in a social studies-related field or education required
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years teaching in social studies (K–8, or High School)
