About you and this role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Specialist! This position can be located in Houston, TX, Lake Jackson, TX or Midland, MI. In this role, you will source and manage a portfolio of products or services to improve Dow's cost position and supply security in the market through application of the strategic sourcing process. You will receive a moderate level of guidance and direction while building knowledge of the company, processes and customers.
This role will require understanding of key business drivers for your discipline and function. You will need to be able to expand conceptual and working knowledge related to your discipline or functional area. You are expected to provide informal guidance to new team members and be able to explain complex information to others.
It is your responsibility to use technical experience, established practices, and personal judgement to analyze and resolve straightforward problems. Your performance impacts the quality of your own work and your team’s work and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of products or services to improve Dow's cost position and supply security in the market through application of the strategic sourcing process.
- Utilize business acumen and analytics to drive value from the market and influence stakeholders.
- Responsible for the negotiation, execution and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with the strategies within the commercial area and/or geography.
- Develop knowledge of the supply market and suppliers. Conduct Strategic Sourcing Projects including market analysis and the development of short and mid-term strategies.
- Manage Supplier Relationships including the commercial relationship. Monitor supplier performance against key performance indicators.
- Engage with Stakeholders to clarify the scope of service, quality, volume and requirements for contract implementations and renewals.
- Investigate and facilitate Quality, Service and Product Performance (QSPP).
- Analyze data to identify improvements in vendor and spend coding.
- May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives locally.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of purchasing fundamentals and procurement work processes and policies.
- Financial and market analysis skills, and effectively manipulate and analyze data.
- Strong data analysis skills to effectively identify value opportunities.
- Proficiency with applicable Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Focus on value delivery and sustainable competitive advantage for the Business Partner.
- Teamwork and communication. Ability to persuade others through effective communication skills (both oral and written). Develop and demonstrate negotiation skills.
- Initiative to challenge inefficiencies, process deviations, and strategy deviations.
- Utilization of data analysis skills to effectively identify value opportunities.
- Exhibition of strong work ethic and responsiveness to earn respect of business partners.
