Junior Corporate Counsel (Hybrid)

SUMMARY

The Corporate Counsel will serve as a critical member of the Legal Team that provides legal counsel to MAHLE’s operational and service functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Negotiating and drafting commercial contracts by and between automotive suppliers and original equipment manufacturers.

• Providing legal counsel to MAHLE’s operational and service functions with the goal of accomplishing MAHLE’s business objective while minimizing legal and commercial risks.

• Providing legal counsel on employment matters, including matters involving FMLA, FLSA, ADA and discrimination, as well as gathering information for and drafting responses to agency complaints.

• Developing best practices policies to insulate MAHLE from liability.

• Assisting with preparation of pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.

• Researching legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.

• Performing other duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school in the United States is required

• Minimum 2 years of progressive professional legal experience is required; 5 or more is preferred

• 1 or more years of Law Firm experience with demonstrated experience analyzing and providing counsel on Commercial matters.  

• Automotive industry is strongly preferred but not required 

• Licensed or in-house certified to practice law in the state of Michigan is required
