Bay State Community Service’s Prevention Team is dedicated to fostering healthier communities for all by addressing substance use prevention and promoting well-being. We are looking for a dedicated part-time and full-time coordinator to join our growing team. You will work closely with community stakeholders and youth to plan, implement, evaluate equitable evidence-informed prevention strategies to drive policy, practice, systems, and environmental changes. We strive to center racial equity and social justice in all we do.
Program descriptions:
MassCall3 also known as Building Up Youth (BUY): BUY brings together 5 communities (Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, Milton and Randolph) working in partnership to prevent youth substance misuse and help all young people grow up to have healthy futures. The collaborative utilizes SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to assess regional needs, build capacity, plan, implement and evaluate strategies to prevent misuse of substances of first use (alcohol, nicotine, cannabis) among youth. Current strategies include a positive youth development leadership program, advocacy and alcohol policy change, and a social norms/positive community norms campaign.
Impact Quincy: Impact Quincy (IQ) Coalition, established in 1991, is a community-based collaborative dedicated to building healthy communities through partnership, equity and collective action. With new funding, we are working on rebuilding and relaunching IQ and creating a new Strategic Plan with a focus on youth leadership and youth alcohol prevention.
Greater Boston Tobacco-Free Community Partnership (TFCP): The Greater Boston TFCP supports the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation & Prevention (MTCP) goals and priorities to invest in and work with communities, especially with historically oppressed communities, to reverse unjust policies, share decision-making power, and build community capacity to live a life free of commercial tobacco and nicotine. The TFCP focuses on commercial tobacco prevention but with the broader understanding that many of the “root causes’ that influence commercial tobacco usage, dependence and exposure are also contributing to other health inequities. The TFCP collaborates with local partners to prevent youth from starting to use tobacco/nicotine, protect everyone from secondhand smoke and promote free resources to help people quit in the Greater Boston region, with an emphasis on the community of Brockton.
