Programme Director - Darwin Programme

We’re looking for a Programme Director to lead and deliver a transformation programme of our existing content platform suite to create a consistent and market-defining customer experience, which we call the Darwin Programme.

SN Digital (SND) is a department of SN Technology which is the technology division of Springer Nature. Our work touches upon all areas of the business; this role is aligned with our Research division, where we are responsible for maintaining and delivering millions of articles used by researchers, scientists and students around the globe.

About the job

We’re looking for a Programme Director for the Darwin programme of work. The job is based in one of our offices - either London, Berlin, Lisbon or Pune and you will also be working with colleagues in Heidelberg, New York and Pune.

 

The Programme comprises several digital product development teams (circa 100 FTEs) which run and maintain current live services as well as delivering growth and transformation changes. This will require maintaining alignment of our goals with the business strategy and maintaining the alignment of the delivery priorities across our teams.  

We aim to transform our existing product suite to create a consistent and market-defining customer experience, built on a foundation of operational and technical excellence and innovation. This involves bringing together areas that have been working separately, to establish new team structures and embed new and improved ways of working. Some capabilities work exceptionally well, whereas others will need guidance and support to mature. 

 

This senior leadership role shapes, leads and empowers the delivery team to ensure the fundamentals of Programme and Project Management excellence are achieved. The Programme Director will understand, embrace and be able to build consensus to select the most appropriate tools and methods to deliver. 

About you

• Able to evidence previous experience of leadership of delivering complex and long-term programmes, achieving demonstrable impact in areas such as improved user experience, efficiencies in ways of working and meeting company KPIs. 

• A working knowledge of different agile/lean approaches and when and how to apply them given the context 

• Demonstrable ability in developing and managing high-performing programmes, achieving effective results, with the ability to flex style according to individual and contextual need
