Sr. Director, Legal

<h2><strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO<br></strong></h2> <div>The Sr. Director, Legal will play a key role in supporting the company’s commercial operations by drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of complex agreements across Sales, Business Development, Finance, and Marketing. This role will also provide strategic guidance on day-to-day privacy, compliance, and operational matters in a fast-paced advertising technology environment.</div> <div> <h2><strong>THE DAY-TO-DAY<br></strong></h2> <ul> <li>Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements relating to digital advertising, including MSAs, data protection agreements, data licenses, advertising supply agreements, insertion orders, SaaS agreements, and professional services contracts.</li> <li>Advise on structuring transactions, contract and privacy compliance, and a variety of commercial and operational issues.</li> <li>Lead the creation and implementation of commercial contracting policies and compliance practices.</li> <li>Draft and review various marketing materials, including press releases, white papers, blogs, and video scripts.</li> <li>Support other legal department activities, such as litigation, M&amp;A, employment, and IP portfolio management, on an as-needed basis.</li> </ul> <h2>GREAT TO HAVE</h2> <ul> <li>10+ years of legal experience, including substantial experience working in an in-house legal department, preferably with a focus in adtech, media, or advertising.</li> <li>Significant experience negotiating agreements with Fortune 500 media companies and brands.</li> <li>Proven ability to advise senior-level executives and form strong relationships with business counterparts.</li> <li>Solid understanding of data privacy in an adtech context. Working knowledge of litigation, trademark/patent, employment, and other areas of law is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to provide practical, solution-oriented counsel in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Good business judgment and excellent communication and writing skills.</li> <li>Ability to independently handle matters outside areas of expertise when required.</li> <li>Experience building and improving legal processes and operations, including extensive use of AI and technology tools.</li> <li>J.D. from a top-ranked ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership.</li> </ul> <div class="section page-centered"> <div> <h2>LIFE AT VIANT</h2> <p>Investing in our employee’s professional growth is important to us, but so is investing in their well-being.
