Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced People and Culture (PC) Generalist to provide direct support to the Manager of the Benefits and Payroll team. The person filling this role must be able to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances and work well under pressure as situations warrant. This position needs to be comfortable with thinking strategically while being able to roll-up one’s sleeves when needed to achieve team deliverables as the situation warrants. This position requires excellent communication and administrative skills, and familiarity with payroll and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). The PC Generalist works collaboratively and in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner to embrace Energy Solutions’ core values, mission, and vision to support staff across the organization.  

This position will be based at an Energy Solutions’ office and will be expected to report to the office every Wednesday and, as needed, for on-site events. 

Persons filling this position can choose to work from either our Northern California office in Oakland, our Southern California office in Orange, or our Portland, Oregon office 

 

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Manager of People and Culture, Benefits Specialist and PC Leadership on implementing changes due to our rapid growth
  • Act on behalf of the Manager, People and Culture, in her absence
  • Ensures that all benefit plans comply with legal regulations
  • Provides excellent support to employees regarding their benefits
  • Continuously evaluates the efficiency and competitiveness of the company’s offerings
  • Help design, strategize, and plan companywide rollouts with PC Leadership and Internal Communications team
  • Work closely with PC team members to answer questions on our Slack channel and email regarding benefits administration and payroll
  • Main Point of Contact for Leave of Absences and Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Maintain OSHA and Workplace Violence Prevention logs and lead quarterly Safety Committee meetings
  • Create or update people policies and procedures as directed
  • Assist with updates and revisions to our employee handbook as needed
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms related to PC KRA areas as directed by Manager and/or Director of PC department
  • Provide support with benefits open enrollment
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records in the HRIS
  • Enhance utilization of our HRIS system
  • Ensure accurate transfer of electronic data from our HRIS
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding tasks such as background checks and new hire orientations to conducting pre-exit interviews
  • Work with PC Leadership with compliance and year-end tasks
  • Responsible for gathering documents for internal and external audits and ensure submission of mandatory state and government reporting
  • Keep abreast of employment law and regulatory changes, e.g., state or local needs
  • Participate in the execution of our diversity, equity and inclusion strategies
  • Oversee the PC SharePoint Benefits Page
  • Perform annual audits to ensure employee electronic personnel folders are updated.
  • Assist employees with benefits claims, changes, and problem resolution while creating efficiencies in the process
  • Perform other miscellaneous projects and duties as needed

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years’ experience or 8 years' of professional experience without a degree
  • A minimum of 3 years' of Benefits Administration, Leave of Absences as well as WC Claims experience
  • Business writing ability with strong spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills with strong
