Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant.
Position Status: Full-time, Day Shift
Position Location: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. New location will be off site late June.
Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM
Overview
The Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate). Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a number of viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes. Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Productive and efficient in daily operations. Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification/Licensure
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - Certification - American Medical Technologists (AMT) or EMT Basic-Certifications-National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)- Certification National Healthcare Association (NHA) or EMT Advanced-Certification -National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
Experience
Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Gastroenterology preferred
