Philanthropy & Sustainability Intern - Summer 2025
The Philanthropy and Sustainability Department at William Blair plays a critical role in supporting the firm's sustainability, philanthropy strategy, and community engagement endeavors. Our Philanthropy and Sustainability internship offers 8-weeks of project based practical work experience, exposure to William Blair’s products and services, opportunities to network and engage with colleagues and fellow program participants across the firm, and a multitude of professional learning opportunities.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Assist with historical charitable giving data cleanup efforts and harmonization of information from multiple platforms
- Create analysis of crossover between grantees and nonprofit clients
- Utilize IRS database to identify different types of nonprofit clients
- Assist in formalizing templates for spreadsheets that are consistently utilized throughout the department
- Help map various historical data points to assist in continued build out of department resources
- Convert travel reports into format accepted by carbon accounting platform
- Research on climate regulations in various states and identify potential implications to the firm
- Additional responsibilities as requested
Qualifications:
- Must have completed a minimum of two years of college and be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Flexible mindset and ability to manage different projects and tasks simultaneously
- Experience with Microsoft Office required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to work in a team environment
- Ability to collaborate with others across multiple functions
- Attention to detail and quality
The work formation for this internship experience is hybrid (in person/remote), with three days of required on-site participation at our Chicago office. Relocation is not provided for this internship. The program begins in early June and includes training, community service, and social events.
A reasonable estimate of the current hourly range at time of posting is below.
Hourly Range$23—$23 USD
