Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse..
Department/Unit Summary:
We care for adult patients ranging in age 18 and older who are being treated for sepsis, recovering from a liver transplant, large abdominal surgeries, vascular surgeries, and many more illnesses. Our patients are unique because we are often treating complex multi-organ failures. Our patients are unique because their diagnoses vary greatly and provide non-stop learning opportunities.
$5,000 sign-on bonus
The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for qualified full-time positions. Care Partner Trainee positions do not qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Shift:
Full-Time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am, three 12-hour shifts per week
Care Partner Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following:
Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or
Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (the certification is not mandatory, but a certificate of completion is necessary), or
Minimum of one year of previous (and within the past two years) experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician.
*Hospital and/or acute care experience preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care.
• Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
• Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
- Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
- CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (Novice): Demonstrates competence with interventions (such as point of care testing, vital signs, etc.) in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
- CARE PARTNER PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): Independently works with clinical applications for patient documentation.
- ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (Novice): Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering environment of care services while requiring some support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate peers by setting the example, giving technical support, providing leadership, and generally elevating the level of performance of others while on the job. Models CREDO behaviors.
