JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine libraries is seeking to hire part-time library staff to manage the access services desk of the Harrell Health Sciences Library during evening and weekend hours. Duties include checking out items to library users, accepting returned items, editing user records, answering questions by phone and in person, as well as opening (on weekends) and closing the library according to procedure.

During the scheduled hours, part-time library staff individuals are the only library staff onsite, so applicants must be reliable, punctual, and good independent workers. Shifts are four hours long, and scheduled according to availability among the pool of part-time employees.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
