TSI Intern - System Design Engineering

AVL Test Systems, is searching for an intern to support our system design engineering team.  This is a great opportunity for an intern to directly support the engineering team with productive tasks and work.  

 

This TSI Internship is a learning position that will provide the exposure to new systems and projects.  This intern role will support mechanical OR electrical projects in addition to development and improvement of the team SharePoint site.  Qualified candidates must be working towards a relevant degree and have an aptitude for the automotive industry.  Experience in SharePoint and/or SolidWorks are preferred.  This internship position is ready for an immediate start or start in May 2024.  Expected hours per week are 40 during the summer months, should this internship continue into the fall, hours are more flexible.  The position will be based in Plymouth, MI with the ability to work a partial remote - partial onsite schedule.  

 

Qualified candidates must possess strong communication skills, along with a driven and positive attitude. Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel Visual Basics is required.  The internship is paid hourly, without benefits.

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

 

Roles:

  • Embrace duties and assignments as determined by their department manager or the individual assigned to directly supervise them.
  • Execute responsibilities as assigned, in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Use skills that they learned in school to implement and assist on projects that relate to the department’s objectives.
  • Safely perform tasks with quality as assigned by supervisor.
  • Create 2D drawings from 3D models as directed by System Design Engineering staff.
  • Make drawing revisions per AVL process.
  • Execute ‘release-to-manufacture’ process. Attend Manufacturing Handover.
  • Support System Design Engineering staff as necessary.
 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School diploma needed.
  • Working towards a degree in engineering or related field.
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good keyboard and math skills.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • AutoCAD or Eplan drawing package for electrical schematics
  • SolidWorks CAD software or equivalent 3D modelling software.
  • Experience with dimensional drawing creation.
  • Mechanical aptitude (familiar with vehicle repair, machining processes, etc.).
