Position Summary:
The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the activity of their assigned department and shift and providing daily direction to the team regarding work assignments and priorities. Role models our purpose and values so that the team delivers safety, quality, cost, and reliability targets daily. Demonstrates creative thinking to solve issues, ensures critical objectives are met while executing projects to continuously improve the area.
Responsibilities:
o Provides direction and training for the team. Leads daily direction setting for their team, tracks shift performance, communicates expectations, assigns work, troubleshoots and problem solves, and takes appropriate corrective actions when issues arise. Ensures the team is following standard work.
o Promote a culture of safety within the team, ensuring all members participate in the BBS/MDSE program and attend the monthly departmental safety meetings, as well as properly use required PPE and equipment operating procedures.
o Trains mentors and develops team members to enable an agile workforce that is cross-trained and increases their knowledge on equipment/processes, and functions.
o Assist in driving root cause problem-solving with urgency and ensure the team uses continuous improvement tools like Autonomous Maintenance, 5-S, Clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL), Centerlines, and Rapid Change Over (RCO).
o Facilitate and troubleshoot technical problems to overcome routine manufacturing equipment issues for areas of responsibility. Partner and collaborate with maintenance to maintain and repair equipment.
o Ensure that respective areas and departments are audit-ready at any time by utilizing departmental GMP audit scores to effectively improve ratings.
o Trained and capable of filling in for a technician to cover for breaks and lunches, or absenteeism.
o Partners with internal and external customers to receive and distribute materials & supplies.
o Creates, edits, and maintains records following Good Documentation Practices, GMPs, and SOPs.
o Maintains the cleanliness of the warehouse in compliance with department GMPs.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
o A High School diploma or its equivalent is required.
Certification:
o Powered Industrial Truck Certification in the operation of sit-down forklifts and motorized pallet jacks is required.
Experience:
o Requires a minimum of three years of experience in the assigned area, preferably in a lead or coordinator role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Ability to lead the delivery of required results in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost, each shift.
o Proficient English ability; required to read/understand written instructions, manuals, and other information; to maintain a variety of written records, and train employees in a complex process of operating procedures and manufacturing instructions.
o Excellent oral communication skills to train, assign work, and provide guidance to staff.
o Ability to listen to and provide verbal directions to staff. Respond to requests for help while working on other activities.
o Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and fix equipment malfunctions.
o Working knowledge of MRP, WMS, and radio frequency systems.
o Knowledge of cGMP’s basic safety practices in an industrial environment.
o Familiarity with production goals and setting performance objectives.
o Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
o Basic math skills.
o Knowledge of JD Edwards MRP systems is preferred.
