Job Description

The Director of MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) —is a regional Student Support Team member—who comprehensively leads all aspects of Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention systems programming for KIPP New Orleans Schools. This role is responsible for managing school psychologists, developing school MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) leads, and school Attendance Managers. This role is highly collaborative with regional Academic and Student Support Team members, ensuring every school has a high-functioning system of identifying students with additional needs, developing high-quality interventions, analyzing data and executing a tiered problem-solving process aligned to state standards and research-based practice and identifying eligible students for 504 accommodations and special education services.

Lead MTSS Systems

  • Work in collaboration with School Leaders, Academics Team, and key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive vision & plan for intervention systems.

  •  Provide professional development, intensive support, and development to the Dean of MTSS for each campus.

  • Collaborate with regional teams and schools to outline three collective tiers of academic, behavior, and attendance interventions.

  • Coordinate training for school-based staff to implement and progress monitor Tier 2 and 3 interventions.

  • Consistently refine MTSS practice manual and processes, outlining the roles and responsibilities of the school-based Dean of MTSS, SBLC team members, screening tools, and standard documentation forms.

  • Ensure schools are consistently running MTSS meeting structures aligned with compliance requirements and facilitating smooth processes for students and families.

  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and build relationships to support student outcomes.

  • Model high expectations, inclusive language, and belief in the ability of all students to be successful at KIPP.

Drive Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS) Programming

  • Analyze data to determine student and school trends in areas of academics, culture, attendance, and Child Find and recommend aligned solutions.

  • Establish a vision for School Building Level Committees and refine SBLC structures, systems, and documentation for academics, behavior, and attendance interventions.

  • Ensure all schools are regularly holding effective SBLC team meetings.

  • Provide feedback regarding data-based problem-solving and progress monitoring.

  •  Ensure MTSS referrals for Special Education evaluation are strong and compliant with Bulletin 1508.

  • Support Attendance compliance through audit preparation, site visits, and supporting referrals and case management of complex cases. 

Student Identification & Evaluation

  • Develop normed vision, consistent high-quality procedures and aligned systems for referrals, re-evaluations, initial evaluations and decision making.

  • Manage school psychologists to complete all required responsibilities.

  • Develop and implement evaluation tracking systems to ensure timely and accurate completion of Bulletin 1508-compliant evaluations.

  • Manage evaluation testing materials, including materials inventory and ordering.

  • Ensure collaboration among School Psychologists and between School Psychologists and school-based teams.

  • Codify student data storage system for evaluations.

Manage Section 504 Program

  • Coordinate and monitor KNOS compliance with Section 504 identification and requirements.

  • Provide ongoing training to school-based staff regarding Section 504 and the implementation of Section 504 procedures
