Job Description:
What You’ll Do
Be a key part of the Proprietary Payments Finance Team where you will work closely with Payments experts across multiple functions, including Global Product, Network Operations, Global Network Analytics & Pricing, Risk and Strategic Client Management to assess investment opportunities and guide your business partners towards optimizing business decisions through transparency and collaboration.
The right candidate enjoys building partnerships, leveraging technology and a natural curiosity to drive the business forward and optimize profitability.
Responsible for providing financial and business analysis support for Discover's Payments Services business unit.
Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
How You’ll Do It
Partner with finance leadership to support finance merger activities, working cross functionally to complete requests.
Provides management with insightful analysis and reporting to make optimal business decisions.
Takes a leadership role in managing your business partner relationships as a primary point-of-contact for analytics activities.
Excels as the Line of Business (LOB) Finance organization “hub” connected to all the Finance organization “spokes” (e.g. Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, etc…)
Develops best-in-class analytical and reporting tools that are easy to use and highly automated.
Performs as part of a dynamic team of Finance professionals all working together to achieve individual, team, business unit and company goals.
Provides management with strategic advice and financial analyses for investment decisions, pricing changes, and channel and segment expansions.
Analyzes customer behaviors and product profitability trends to understand financial implications and influence actions.
Drives revenue generating and expense efficiency initiatives by understanding business economics and effectively leading and influencing business.
Develops financial projections to support planning and investment decisions. Provides advice and financial analyses to leadership for investment decisions, pricing changes, and the development of new products and offers. Monitors and assesses the return on financial investments. Leads an analytical approach to proactively develop insightful financial analyses.
May participate in financial planning activities including budgeting, short and long-term forecasting, revenue and expense driver analysis.
Collaborates with business partners (e.g, marketing, and operations) to develop robust financial forecasts and drive insightful analysis.
Continuously improves and streamlines standard work processes.
Creates and maintains models to understand long-term profit and loss impacts and drive business decisions.
Performs detailed competitive analyses to drive strategic insights and actions.
Conducts variance analysis and consolidation activities.
Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics
Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration and Management, or related
4+ years of experience in Financial Services, Consulting, Investment Banking, or related
