Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy & Continuous Improvement guides cross-functional teams in formulating and pursuing strategic business priorities. The Senior Manager identifies and assesses strategic business problems from multiple lenses (e.g., customer, competitor, financial). They develop data-driven recommendations and actively shape scalable execution plans, inserting their informed perspective into the work. Additionally, the Senior Manager delivers compelling presentations to enhance decision-making and proposes solutions to open questions and risks. Other duties are performed as assigned.

 

What You Will Do

  • Address the most impactful challenges facing Macy's and the retail industry by scrutinizing the status quo, questioning assumptions, and striving for improved outcomes through internal alignment.
  • Independently lead and oversee cross-functional projects, collaborating with partners across the business to drive progress.
  • Take on leadership roles in large-scale projects, coordinating efforts with fellow team members.
  • Develop a well-informed perspective on project topics to contribute significantly to the work and drive outcomes aligned with the company's overall strategy and priorities.
  • Gain exposure to senior leadership within the organization, fostering key stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Strategy and Continuous Improvement teams, mentoring colleagues and offering peer coaching.
  • Manage your career trajectory and explore various facets of the retail business.
  • Apply analytical rigor and creative problem-solving skills to address strategic business challenges.
  • Evaluate new and innovative concepts and approaches.
  • Ensure a solid understanding of relevant subject matter to effectively contribute to projects.
  • Synthesize key insights and formulate actionable recommendations.
  • Cultivate trust-based relationships with key stakeholders across different functions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop long-term strategies, establish strategic project management frameworks, and tackle complex challenges across functions.
  • Foster collaboration with other teams within the organization and with the broader Continuous Improvement team.
  • Influence stakeholders across functions, even without formal reporting lines.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

 

Skills You Will Need

Project Leadership: Leading and managing cross-functional projects independently, collaborating effectively with partners across various business units to drive progress.

Communication Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for creating compelling presentations and analyzing data. Excellent communication and facilitation skills for conveying complex information clearly and tailored to various audiences.

Mathematical Proficiency: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial models and large data sets analysis.

Results-Driven: Demonstrating high energy, passion, and a proven track record of delivering results in a collaborative team environment.
