Our High-Risk Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery Unit provides comprehensive, specialized care for pregnant patients with complex medical, surgical, and fetal conditions. Services span the full continuum of care, including preconception counseling, advanced ultrasonography and fetal imaging, perinatal diagnostics and fetal therapy, high-risk prenatal management, and coordinated labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Our unit is designed to support the safest possible deliveries for medically and obstetrically complex pregnancies. We collaborate closely with pediatric and adult medical subspecialists, anesthesiology, neonatology, genetic counselors, and dedicated nurse coordinators through specialized interdisciplinary programs. These include maternal cardiac disease in pregnancy, neurovascular disorders in pregnancy, perinatal diabetes management, placenta accreta spectrum and advanced surgical obstetrics, reproductive genetics, and complex fetal care and fetal therapy.
This integrated, team-based approach ensures seamless transition from prenatal planning to delivery and postpartum care, optimizing outcomes for both mother and baby in high-risk clinical situations.
A caregiver in this position works nights, from 7:00pm—3:00am or 7:00pm—7:30am or 11:00pm—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers.
Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
Evaluate and document patient progress.
Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization.
Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage.
Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
