About Our Job
The Denver Fire Department Administrative team is seeking an accomplished office professional who has high professional standards, can juggle multiple tasks, and has a customer service focus. This position will support the operations of the Fire Prevention Division.
This position is primarily at Denver Fire Headquarters, 745 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204. However, it also requires working at the Webb Building, 201 W Colfax Ave, at least once a week.
Work hours are Mon-Fri from 7:00-3:30 pm. This position is not remote, nor will it become so.
As a Staff Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:
Providing administrative support to the supervisor and Uniform staff.
Assisting Division managers as needed, including revenue collection.
Supporting various division programs and the front desk as required.
Helping staff adapt to new policies, practices, modifications, and other solutions.
Creating, maintaining, and distributing monthly reports, forms, informational documents, and spreadsheets.
Implementing and coordinating specific administrative functions, including revenue collections, by exercising delegated decision-making authority.
Evaluating operational objectives and procedures, analyzing issues, and recommending or developing modifications and solutions to address management concerns.
Providing informed recommendations and expert opinions to management on courses of action.
Interpreting, communicating, and implementing agency policy and procedural changes.
Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

Experience in monthly reporting, spreadsheet creation, and collections.

Exceptional customer service skills for internal and external interactions, in person and over the phone.
Ability to build strong relationships within a diverse team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with Accela.

Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience performing specialized and/or technical office support work of the type and at the level of Administrative Support Assistant IV.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of education may be substituted for each required year experience.
License/Certifications: None
