Job Description
The University of Nevada, Lake Tahoe campus is recruiting for two Food Service Cook/Supervisor 2 positions. **This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. ** This position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Executive Chef and the Executive Chef in running and maintaining successful business operations in Social House, Catering, Community Engagement Events, and the Coffee Venue. This position will report directly to the Assistant Executive Chef and will provide support to all other team members as needed. The Food Service Cook will ensure all food that is served is wholesome and nutritious and done so in accordance with all Health Code Standards.

Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience which involved preparation and serving of food according to standardized menus in a military, institutional, correctional, healthcare, hospitality, or other large quantity food service facility; OR one year of experience as a Food Service Cook/Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Required certifications
TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) or equivalent
ServSafe Certification or equivalent
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is 40 hours, variable hours throughout the week with some late evenings and weekends.
Compensation Grade:
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
