What you’ll do:

 

Position title: SAP iXp Intern - Business AI Research

Location: Hybrid - Newport Beach 

Expected start date: June 2025

Duration: 3 months until September 2025

Working hours: Part-time - Full-time ( 20 - 40 hrs./week)

 

SAP customers are actively migrating from ECC, the legacy SAP on-premises software tools, to the new cloud-based S/4HANA platform. This migration process can be complicated, especially for long-term customers who have built extensive customizations for their applications with large datasets. The migration process offers an opportunity to clean up their existing datasets to remove obsolete and irrelevant data and find and fix errors.  This internship project aims to apply artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to assist customers with their data migration journey.  

 

Tasks for the intern will revolve around developing and testing solutions to address fundamental problems in data cleaning. This will include developing and characterizing solutions using large language models (LLM) to analyze the database schema and data content to develop suggestions for data cleaning.  A synthetic benchmark dataset will be created to help gauge the capabilities and failure modes of candidate solutions for these problems.

 

Besides showing relevance to SAP development, this position also aims at scientific publications in the software engineering community.

• Education: Bachelor's and/or Master's in Computer Science at a top STEM university
• Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or JD/PhD program
• Experience as a PhD graduate student in software and modern AI technology
• Remarkable academic track record and experience
• Experience with data science methodology
• A data-driven, systemic thinking, and continuous improvement mindset 
• Ability to solve complex topics and drive results across the board areas at SAP 
• Self-driven and proactive mindset
• Excellent team player and collaboration skills in both industry and academia
• Excellent communication skills with strong empathy
• Fluency in the English language (both written and spoken)
