We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Engineer - Modeling & Simulation to join the team with Barrios Technology, a teammate company.

The Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Engineer - Modeling & Simulation will:

  • Support the advanced environmental control and life support systems analysis group.

  • Simulate and evaluate performance of life support systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions.

  • Correlate fluid test results to corresponding model.

  • Model chemical processes, fluid flows, space environments, and size equipment performing life support functions for space flights.

  • Evaluate and refine requirements for life support equipment that will support future missions.

  • Perform other tasks assigned.

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering in the field or in a related area.

  • Capable of developing simulation models of chemical and fluid processes at varying levels of fidelity ranging from detailed, first-principle models to more descriptive lumped-parameter models.

  • Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to use data to draw conclusions and support the conclusions when challenged.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in a team environment.

Requisition Preferences:

  • ​Aspen software experience.

  • Computational human modeling experience.

  • Experience with dynamic chemical or fluid process simulation.

  • Programming knowledge in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Simulink, Python, FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic, Ansys, Star CCM, COMSOL.

  • Experience with chemical processes associated with NASA life support systems.

  • Experience with microgravity fluidics

  • Experience with modeling or system design for two phase flow.

  • Understanding of the NASA processes for analysis, design, and system requirements.
