Project Overview:
UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF project works on a 4/10 schedule. Start times are flexible but the standard work week is: Monday - Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for startup planning and activities on major projects. You will coordinate with project management, engineering, construction, and clients to leverage diverse technical team skills to integrate the startup plan. You will identify risks and trends, manage progress reporting, and proactively course correct to ensure goals, schedules, and requirements are met. #LI-EH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Interface with Startup Leads and other team members; serve as a focal point for coordination of work by assigned subcontracts.
- Monitor and inspect the subcontractor’s ES&H, quality of work, validating subcontractors installed quantities and monthly progress payments and invoices
- Monitor subcontractor force account and time and management reports and coordinate subcontractor’s activities with work performed by others.
- Perform surveillance and inspections of subcontractor's work to confirm compliance with subcontract requirements
- Monitor subcontractor submittals and coordinate project review of same, and coordinate with the UPF Engineering and the subcontractor's design entity for design and build subcontracts.
- Exercise professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.
- Provide direction to subcontractors, construction office technical or clerical personnel.
- May specialize in a single field or area or assume a lead role in a specific segment of a construction project.
- Represent Construction during the formation and bid, evaluate, and award phases of assigned subcontracts, and monitoring the subcontractor's work processes to ensure adherence to the principles of Integrated Safety Management System to ensure health and safety of the worker, and quality, productivity, and consistency of the workplace.
- Operates with considerable latitude, exercising independent judgment and utilizing construction knowledge and experience in the resolution of typical questions and problems, which may arise.
- Manage to subcontract specific Condition Reports including creating Corrective Action Plans and participating in Casual (apparent/root) Analysis.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Level 1-Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience
- Level 2-Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
- Must be a US citizen
