Position Title & Overview:

The Sr. Counsel works closely with the General Counsel to advise Mediavine’s business strategy. The Sr. Counsel will help to identify and mitigate risk as we navigate new business products and services. The ideal candidate will have experience in terms of service, vendor management and partner agreements.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the General Counsel on a variety of business legal matters
• Monitor and interpret the various laws, regulations, contractual obligations and industry best practices
• Track relevant and maintain current knowledge of legislation and regulations that may affect the company’s business at the local, state and federal levels
• Negotiate, review and draft commercial agreements
• Communicate and negotiate with outside parties (agencies, regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.), creating positive relationships, agreements and mutual trust
• Develop and lead select legal department strategic objectives
• Build and maintain strong partnerships across all of Mediavine’s business units including; people operations, product, engineering, sales, ad operations, marketing as well as support & customer success to ensure that all products, offerings, and practices comply with legal requirements
• Conduct all assignments with integrity and a high degree of responsibility
• Perform other related duties as needed

Requirements

• JD with bar admission in good standing
  
• 10+ years experience as a practicing attorney, in the technology industry
• 5+ years advising in the area of commercial contracts, vendor management, and partner agreements
• 3+ years of experience as corporate in-house counsel
• Understanding of commercial terms in the Ad Tech industry, preferred
• Strong negotiating skills and active experience in hands-on contract negotiation
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of legal research; ability to identify and analyze complex and novel legal issues and problems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
• Experience with Google Workspace and Slack
• Understanding of commercial terms for the Ad Tech Industry
• Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with the ability to influence and build strong relationships
• Strong analytical skills and are detail oriented
• Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once and perform in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
