About the role

FundFire the leading publication covering the high-net-worth and institutional investment management industry, is seeking a talented, motivated journalist to cover the wealth management beat.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established, stable, profitable, respected publication and help expand its coverage on a fast-evolving beat.

FundFire’s 110,000+-strong readership runs the gamut of the U.S. institutional/high-net-worth investment management industry, including the investment managers that manage and market institutional investment products, the investment offices of wealth managers, investment consultants, defined benefit pension funds, university endowments, nonprofits and foundations, as well as financial advisors.

Prior experience covering finance is preferred, but not required for this job.

What will I be responsible for?

  • The reporter will be expected to produce three or more stories per week for our daily newsletter
  • You will be expected to mine public documents, make public records requests and develop a network of sources in the wealth management industry to generate scoops and story ideas. We prize actionable, insightful and compelling content
  • Use analytical, quantitative and/or documentary material, as well as interviews, to explore all aspects of the story
  • Contribute to all formats of FundFire editorial, including video interviews and features, webcasts, charts and other multimedia

The role may include occasional travel to industry conferences and events

What experience/skills do I need to be successful in this role?

  •     In-depth experience in beat reporting and writing longer, analytical articles
  •     Excellent editorial judgment
  •     Attention to detail
  •     Experience with content in multiple formats (e.g. video, charts & graphs, etc.) and reworking stories from concept to publication
  •     Ability to work in a team environment and productively collaborate with other journalists
  • Understanding of the U.S. wealth management or asset management market a big plus

The annual salary range is $68,500 to $85,000, depending on experience.
