Conducts targeted infection surveillance activities including investigation and responses to outbreaks of infections among patients and/or personnel. Recommends and teaches appropriate preventative measures to control infection. Assures compliance with recommendations from regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Associates degree or higher.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical procedures; medical and environmental microbiology; infectious disease; epidemiology; asepsis and immunology preferred.
- Requires knowledge of local; state; and national regulations and standards and their impact on infection control.
- National certification in infection control preferred within 3 years from date of hire.
- 3-5 years experience in healthcare or related field is preferred. Prior experience in infection control preferred.
