Position Overview: Hospice Physician
ABOUT THE JOB
- The Hospice Physician approves patients for hospice admission, oversees patients' care teams and re-certifies patients for continued hospice care. Available to visit patients as needed, and to consult with patients' personal doctors and other physicians in the community. Responsibilities include promoting and maintaining the standards of practice consistent with quality hospice care and regulations. May serve as a member of Interdisciplinary Group/Team (IDG/IDT) Each hospice physician participates in every other week IDG meetings with their team. Each physician participates in the on-call rotation that involves each physician covering on call for a week at a time.

This position reports to Medical Director
Physical and Mental Effort
Prolonged sitting is required. Requires the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and the Hospice needs.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited college/university with Doctor of Medicine degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and is fully licensed to practice medicine and is enrolled in Medicare or maintains an Ordering and Referring status.
