The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer for development of the next generation product line processing and graphics solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA.  The Computing Solutions organization is focused on the development of solutions that can be applied across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety critical commercial and military applications.  Our team is responsible for the development, certification and sustainment of these processing and graphics solutions. 

We are seeking candidates with a proven history in specifying, designing, verifying, and testing electronic systems. Your responsibilities will span the creation of comprehensive plans, requirements, meticulous verification and validation, and the development of detailed design documentation for our next generation solutions with the product line avionic electronic systems. 

What YOU will do:

  • Lead development of system test strategy and certification activities 
  • Plan and lead the system certification events (SOI1, SOI2, SOI3, SOI4, TSO)  
  • Support product architecture related to design for a successful certification strategy 
  • Oversee the scheduling and maintenance of test equipment and assets  
  • Primary point of contact for all certification related questions and issues  
  • Mentor other systems engineers, collaborate closely with hardware, software, firmware 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience throughout the avionics equipment certification process 
  • Experience with safety critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g. DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A/B)  
  • Understanding of Earned Value concepts and metrics 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external customers 
  • Adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with teammates to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment 
  • Experience with Collins Management System for bid and pursuit work 
  • Experience working with and testing embedded hardware and software 
  • Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting
