Title:

IA Engineer/Cyber Security Engineer

KBR is seeking an experienced Information Assurance Engineer II/Cyber Security Engineer to support Cyber Security Research and Software Data Analysis for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) AIRWorks team (Proposal). This role involves ensuring the security and integrity of classified and unclassified systems and networks supporting research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) for critical aerospace systems.

 You will collaborate with project teams to research, design, and implement secure systems and solutions. You will play a key role in assessing risks, ensuring compliance with DoD and Navy cyber security standards, and verifying the effectiveness of security controls in operational environments like F-35, FA-18, MQ-25 aircraft.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform full-spectrum cyber security research, analysis, and engineering for AIRWorks project teams supporting various aircraft platforms. This includes security risk assessments, test planning, and implementation of risk management frameworks (RMF).
  • Work closely with government stakeholders, engineering teams, and other cyber professionals to ensure that all security measures are in place and effective. Provide regular updates and recommendations for security improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with Navy, DoD, and federal cyber security standards and regulations. Collaborate on assessments of project risk and schedule management, cyber test planning, and other RMF-related tasks.
  • Research, design, and develop Cyber Security solutions for information systems. You will ensure that systems incorporate required security features, certified material solutions, and comply with established development processes.
  •  Design, develop, and execute cyber security test plans to validate and verify the security posture of systems and platforms. This includes both functional testing and vulnerability assessments.
  • Support the development of security documentation, including Security Assessment Plans (SAPs), continuous monitoring strategy plans, cyber test plans, and other security-related artifacts.
  • Assist in developing and managing authorization packages in the eMASS system. This includes gathering documentation, evidence, and creating Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) to track and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in the identification, response, and resolution of security incidents. Provide guidance on program protection and physical security measures to safeguard sensitive and classified information.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:  High School Diploma & 5+ years of experience in Cyber Security, or a related area.

Certifications: CompTIA Security+. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)  is preferred.

Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SSBI (Single Scope Background Investigation)  completed in the last 6 years.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with cyber security concepts, tools, and frameworks, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) and eMASS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting the NAWCAD AIRWorks program
  • Familiarity with secure design and implementation methodologies for systems like aircraft platforms (e.g., F-35, MQ-25, V-22).
  • Demonstrated experience working with classified systems and secure networks
  • Relevant DoD 8570.01-M Level II or III certifications beyond Security+ (e.g., CASP+, CEH, CISM, or CySA+)
  • Familiarity with Agile development or DevSecOps environments in government settings
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Experience with ethical hacking, penetration testing, intrusion experience.


Location: Remote (must reside within 50 miles of Pax River, MD)
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, EST hours of operation

Flexible remote workplace setting. Must reside within 50 miles of Lexington Park, MD.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week.

Compensation: $117,000-146,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretion
