Paralegal, International Trade team (fixed term 6 months)

We have a unique opportunity to join the International Trade team in Brussels led by Anna Dias, you will join a sub team being a part of the wider Litigation & Regulatory Group.
DLA Piper’s International Trade team provides clients with legal and strategic advice, backed up by the specialist legal and sector knowledge of a leading global business law firm, to help them achieve that. 
DLA Piper’s International Trade team represents European companies that wish to lodge complaints against unfair practices by competitors from third countries or that are themselves targeted by such proceedings by their competitors. 

We also advise clients on WTO related issues and advise them on the many other aspects of international economic regulation. 
 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

By joining our International Trade team, you will be supporting the team to develop and achieve our joint goals. Candidates will enjoy a uniquely dynamic range of work and responsibility and their task will include:

• Assisting in supporting the team with existing workload but also have opportunity to enhance business development output, by developing initiatives to promote the expertise and drafting policy analysis for clients and prospective clients.
• Following up clients and handling of their matters.

 

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a candidate to join our International Trade team for a 6-month as Stagiaire or Paralegal at our Brussels office.
The ideal candidate will:

• Be in at least the second year of a Master's program at a university within the EU..
• Have obtained or be pursuing a dual degree in legal studies and a complementary field (e.g., LL.M., Institute of Political Sciences, etc) is an advantage
• Have completed at least one legal-focused internship (e.g., at a law firm, European Commission, WTO, government).
• Have an excellent command of English (essential). Proficiency in French is an advantage.
• Take pride in their work, with attention to detail.
• Adapt their approach based on the situation, overcoming obstacles and setbacks.
• Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility.
• Be a strong team player, willing to work on diverse subjects within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Be eager to support the Trade and Government Affairs teams in business development activities
