Researcher, Lending Vertical - On-Chain Economic Security

Location: Remote - Preference for NYC but will accept Remote Europe & USA - would need to overlap EST hours

Compensation: $120K - $150K

We are the pioneer in automated, on-chain economic security systems, trusted by leading crypto protocols like Aave, GMX, dYdX, and others, to secure billions of dollars in assets globally. We empower protocols by optimizing risk management and capital efficiency using world-class custom EVM simulations to provide actionable insights. We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Researcher to join our team, reporting directly to the Vertical Lead, Lending.

You will play a critical role in conducting in-depth protocol research, modeling risk parameters, and communicating findings with high-impact stakeholders in the DeFi lending vertical. This position requires deep analytical skills, the ability to translate complex data into clear strategic guidance, and a strong understanding of decentralized finance mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quantitative Research: Conduct comprehensive analysis of emerging DeFi protocols and products, focusing on Risk Modeling, Mechanism Design, and parameter optimization.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze complex financial data to draw out insights specific to protocol requirements, leveraging key metrics for various analyses.
• Reporting & Communication: Develop and deliver professional, data-driven reports for clients and the broader community, including writing formal research papers.
• Technical Contribution: Be comfortable running and modifying Python scripts for data fetching and normalization to support research activities.
• Collaboration & Innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outputs and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of our platform.
• Strategic Support: Help shape strategic research initiatives across DeFi projects and support decision-making for high-impact stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven experience in economic research, risk analysis, or a related quantitative field, with a preference for candidates with direct DeFi space exposure.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid history of conducting data-driven research.
• Technical Understanding: Proficient in reading and a strong understanding of smart contract code.
• Scripting: Comfortable running and modifying, and capable of writing basic, Python scripts for data fetching and normalization for research purposes.
• Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of compiling and presenting research findings and writing formal research papers.
• Teamwork: A strong team player with the ability to work with clients and internal teams to refine product offerings.
• Passion: A strong passion for DeFi and blockchain technology.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

• Experience with smart contracts, blockchain protocols, and/or DeFi projects.
• Knowledge of DeFi protocols, financial markets, and black-swan events is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with profiling tools and performance optimization techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Location: Based in NYC (Brooklyn office), USA, or Europe.
