Summary

The West Virginia Department of Tourism seeks an individual to join our custodial team at the Culture Center.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine manual work at the full performance level, cleaning in and around the Culture Center

• May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays during events

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in an assigned area

• Other duties as assigned

Examples of Work

• Dusts, cleans, polishes and waxes furniture, fixtures, woodwork and equipment

• Cleans restrooms and replenishes with supplies

• Sweeps, mops  and polishes floors, stairs and corridors using a variety of equipment

• Cleans rugs and carpets with a variety of equipment

• Empties trash receptacles

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.

• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

• Ability to perform manual work.

• Ability to operate vacuum cleaners and buffers.

• Ability to choose and use appropriate cleaning agents.

This job opportunity is not a Civil Service position and is not covered under the Administrative Rule of the WV Division of Personnel. This position is located at the Capitol Complex in Charleston and requires a full-time work schedule during regular business hours. Remote work is not permitted. Passing a criminal background check is a provision of employment.
