As part of BASF’s Data & AI Powerhouse, we as Data Transparency team provide an enterprise-wide Data Catalog solution as single-point of truth to share knowledge about data and to find and access relevant documented data in an efficient, convenient, and compliant way. Our goal is to accelerate business decisions and processes by enabling data citizens to connect data with insights.
As part of an agile team, you will independently drive the development of the Data Catalog by evolving its operating model and designing new concepts to meet the needs of our internal stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You develop, maintain, and improve the operating model of the Data Catalog.
- You improve the quality of the operating model in the Data Catalog and proactively identify problems with the metadata.
- You analyse the metadata management needs of stakeholders and design concepts, workflows as well as information pipelines to meet those needs.
- You specify technical requirements for the Data Catalog that meet our stakeholder’s needs and collaborate with DevOps engineers to drive their implementation.
- You share your expertise on metadata management as well as the Data Catalog by consulting stakeholders and participating in projects.
- You create easy-to-understand training materials and provide instructor-led training sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in (business) informatics, computer science, or similar
- Minimum of 5 years work experience or certifications in data management bodies of knowledge (e.g., DAMA, DCAM)
- Hands-on experience with metadata management and data lineage tools such as data catalogues, data quality and data privacy (e.g., Collibra)
- Advanced experience with SQL; experience with Python or R would be an advantage
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- High language proficiency in English.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical and business issues clearly and effectively
- Proactive working approach, good self-organising and team working skills in an agile and remote environment, complemented by a strong customer focus
