New Shepard Development Lead for Maintenance (R37159)

This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a hardworking and diverse team of engineers, technicians and specialists, you will lead innovation in development of how we do maintenance, refurbishment, and preparations for all systems required for flight and recovery operations. You will work closely with New Shepard Operations and Maintenance to integrate newly developed technical products, ensure our certification is maintained, and define further evolutionary goals. You will work across Blue Origin programs, system elements, and the product lifecycle to enable new capabilities. Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; physics; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses
• 7+ years of proven experience in product development and operation
• Prior experience with development of complex products and with launch operations and maintenance manual development
• Knowledge of fabrication, fielded product maintenance, integration processes, quality and configuration management systems
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
• Ability to travel to our West Texas Launch Facility approximately once per month
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of systems engineering practices and system safety analysis techniques as applied to human-integrated systems
• Airframe & Powerplant license or experience working in a similar maintenance/refurbishment environment
• Demonstrated experience in human transportation systems
• Proven experience with planning/scheduling tools including processes such as Basis Of Estimates and Integrated Master Schedules
• Experience with maintenance management tools (ex. Maximo), project management tools (ex. Oracle Primavera P6, JIRA), and/or design tools (ex. CREO/Windchill)

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is$143,989.50—$201,585.30 USD
