The Opportunity
This position works Onsite out of our Westford, MA in the Abbott Vascular division. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.
The Sr. R&D Engineer
Designs and develops software test procedures for verification testing of new and existing medical device products. Investigates and resolves R&D issues involving software, test equipment, and hardware. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work. Performs engineering studies. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.
What You’ll Work On
- JAMA, OCT system knowledge, OPTIS/OpStar catheter familiarity, Ultreon SW familiarity, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, software defect identification and resolution, JIRA, Matlab tool execution, physiology test methodology, PW X familiarity.
- Design and develop test plans and test cases to verify new products and improve existing ones.
- Lead software integration teams that support the testing of software during software development.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other functions such as Marketing and Field Service as needed.
- Generates project plans and documents relative to the resolution of problems and/or the implementation of new software.
- repare and submit reports on progress and status of all testing procedures.
- Analyze and troubleshoot software and test issues. Identifies and resolves discrepancies between new design test requirements and test system capabilities.
- Provide technical support and leadership to technicians for various testing activities.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 6 years of work experience in software test or software design/development.
- Knowledge of Windchill, JAMA requirement management tool and knowledge of JIRA and other Atlassian tools a bonus.
