- Formal Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Previous health care experience preferred. Graduate of an approved school or institution for Medical Assistants preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: BLS/CPR for health care provider in adult, child, and pediatrics.
- Related Experience: Medical terminology college level course, basic anatomy and physiology college level course, computer literacy, general knowledge of various Radiology procedures and preps, aseptic/isolation techniques, and other health care related courses.
- Professional communication skills are required. Ability to follow oral/written instructions, trouble shoot and think logically in stressful or problem solving situations.
- Must be able to handle fast paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Thorough knowledge of various Radiology procedural set ups.
- Ability to function as a team member with flexibility while handling numerous tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to lift and transport patients as required.
- Answers patient’s questions and assists with patient scheduling as required. Assures efficient throughput and productivity in assisting nuclear medicine technologist while assuring quality patient care.
- Transports patients for all sections of radiology as needed.
- Assists Registered Radiology Technologist in general patient care and observation. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Answers phones, delivers messages and assures patient confidentiality while communicating in a professional manner. Greets patients, enters orders and dispatches request in a timely manner.
- Prepares imaging rooms prior to procedures under the supervision of a Radiologic technologist. Room set up for procedure is accurate and timely. Computer knowledge and skill is demonstrated. Maintains adequate stock of supplies and equipment in assigned room or area.
- Ensure that the Technologist have filled in and initialed all appropriate information on patient documentation prior to scanning. Performs required PACS and office/clerical duties and procedure documentation.
- Attends departmental meetings as required and participates in developmental/continuing education meetings to maintain and improve skills.
- Continually updates education as required by HMC/JCAHO/OSHA etc. standards.
- Maintains specialty certification such BLS, Emergency Preparedness, etc.
- Maintains knowledge of radiation safety hazards and HAZMAT training.
