About the role
Help us keep the Museum shining! As a Steward, you’ll play an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our guests and staff. Every day, thousands of visitors enjoy meals and snacks from our café, and we rely on our Steward team to ensure our kitchen and dining areas are spotless and ready for the next adventure. Our Food Services team is essential to creating a positive Museum experience, and this position support daily café operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and teamwork behind the scenes. Job Class: Part-TimeHiring Range: $20.00/HourWork Schedule: Weekend role with hours mainly scheduled on Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Essential Duties
- Interacts professionally and courteously with Museum guests and fellow staff.
- Maintains the dining room by cleaning tables, chairs, and floors.
- Monitors and services trash cans regularly.
- Organizes and restocks condiment stations.
- Upholds high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food sanitation.
- Operates dishwashing equipment to ensure kitchen wares are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Removes and disposes of trash and debris appropriately.
- Maintains cleanliness in kitchen and small-wares storage areas.
Ideal Candidate
- Have dishwashing experience in a high paced, high-volume kitchen.
Working Conditions
- Standing or walking up to 8 hours in a shift.
- Strenuous physical activities like pushing carts, moving tables and chairs, lifting chafers, clearing dirty dishes, carrying trays of service items, and moving various banquet equipment and supplies.
- Lifting requirements: Medium physical effort required by handling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
- High volume production kitchen. Can be hot, cold, humid and/or slippery.
- Strenuous physical activities like moving tables, chairs and clearing dirty dishes.
- May require frequent walking, up and down stairs during set-up and during events.
