About the role

Overview /Objective:

The NFL is seeking a self-motivated and ambitious Director, Indirect Procurement to join a newly created Global Procurement function. This person would develop and implement cost-reducing strategies, negotiate agreements, manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with procurement policies.  As part of the role, you will be accountable for designing, executing and delivering well thought out category strategies in partnership with key internal stakeholders. This is an ideal position for an experienced procurement practitioner who is considered as a subject matter expert in typical indirect procurement categories.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for various indirect spend categories
  • Work closely with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
  • Conduct category spend analysis and supplier segmentation; Develop a deep level of understanding of the global supply base; Lead the strategy and execution to drive cost, innovation, risk management and other value adds including supplier diversity and sustainability.
  • Execute market events and RFQ/RFPs from requirements gathering, negotiation to contracting and savings tracking.
  • Manage multiple sourcing projects and procurement requirements concurrently across the organization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for procurement decisions.
  • Develop cost-saving initiatives and track savings against budgetary targets.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on procurement activities and achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
  • Monitors supplier performance and holds regular business performance reviews. Leads improvement actions as appropriate.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain for indirect categories.

This role is based on-site in our league office.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advance degree preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 -12 years of experience in procurement, or supply chain management.
    • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Skills
    • Subject matter expertise in various indirect categories (i.e. IT, Marketing, Events, Media, Professional Services, Office Services, etc.)
    • Extensive experience of creating, issuing and scoring RFP’s
    • Strong experience in supplier negotiations, developing and executing category strategies.
    • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams and presenting to senior leadership. 
    • Demonstrated track record of exceeding savings targets and financial goals. 
    • Previous experience with large enterprise procurement technologies (i.e. Oracle, Coupa, Jaggaer, Ariba, etc.)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including creating executive presentations
    • Build effective relationship with departments and continue to elevate procurement team to support a new global function
    • Intermediate skill level in MS Excel/PowerPoint required

Some travel may be required for supplier meetings, conferences, and other business needs.

Terms /Expected Hours of Work:

NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. This position may require additional hours as needed.

Salary $140,000$180,000 USD
