The Plumber & Steamfitter II (South) will report to Massasoit State Park 1361 Middleboro Rd., East Taunton  

Please note, if you are selected for this position and will be working less than 90 days, the position will automatically revert to a short-term position.

Our short-term positions are not part of the salary scale that is advertised within this job posting.  Should this position revert to a short-term seasonal position (less than 90 days), your salary rate will be discussed with you during the interview phase of the process.

Position Summary:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks qualified applicants for the position of Long-Term Seasonal Plumber & Steamfitter II.

General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities: 

Troubleshoots plumbing problems in DCR facilities and takes required actions to remedy situation. Repairs/replaces plumbing issues such as bathrooms, pumps, water supplies, drains, etc; cleans sewers. Consults with contractors, utility companies and other trades personnel. All work is performed under Massachusetts codes.

Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities: 

Under general direction, the Plumber and Steamfitter II:

 ·       Supervising and installing, repairing, maintaining, and/or altering steam and plumbing systems, sanitary fixtures, sprinkler systems, heating units, steam tables etc by operating power tools, sewer cleaning machines, hand tools and plumbing equipment

·       Packing joints, valves and pumps

·       Cutting and threading pipes

·       Caulking and packing lead joints, valves and pumps

·       Replacing seals in water closets

·       Cleaning filters

·       Unplugging sinks, toilets and drains

·       Use statewide e-portal to apply for plumbing permits

·       Insulating heat tracing wires and/or piping to ensure that equipment is in proper working order and to meet agency needs.

·       Scheduling installation, maintenance and/or repair work conferring with Regional Directors, district managers and other department personnel to determine location of equipment and appropriate
