The role
As the Submissions Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring that community feedback is thoroughly reviewed and effectively integrated into the decision-making process for State significant development (SSD) applications. Your role involves coordinating the analysis of public submissions and providing clear, concise advice that helps the Commission address community concerns within the planning framework.

You’ll navigate the complexities of translating diverse community views into actionable insights while ensuring that public submission processes are accessible accurate, and timely. Your efforts will be key in maintaining the Commission’s accountability and upholding high standards in taking account of community concerns.

What you will bring to the role

• A solid background in either social impact assessment, social and other research, community engagement, or environmental and land use planning, with practical experience in applying these skills to real-world projects.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with diverse audiences.
• Resilience and a positive attitude to maintain productivity while upholding integrity in your work and interactions.
• A strategic mindset, allowing you to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while thinking critically to solve problems and deliver high-quality outcomes.

What is an essential requirement:

• Current Australian Driver’s License and ability to travel
• Ability to work outside of core business hours if required
• Appointment is subject to probity screening.

About us
The key functions of the Independent Planning Commission are to determine State significant development applications where there is significant opposition from the community; conduct public hearings for development applications and other planning and development matters; and provide independent expert advice on any planning matter (but not development applications), when requested by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces or the Planning Secretary. 

The Office of the Independent Planning Commission (OIPC) provides professional and technical support to the Commission and its members. The OIPC is the main point of contact for the public and Government agencies. It coordinates and facilitates the Commission’s decision-making processes and aims to provide efficient, transparent and high-performing support services.
