Job Duties

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Pharmacy Auditor. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agency’s Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of pharmaceutical operations within the Virginia Medicaid program.

This includes developing, monitoring, and evaluating pharmacy policies, procedures, and standards of care based on evidence-based and data-driven insights.

The Pharmacy Auditor will conduct pharmacy claims audits, analyze healthcare cost and utilization data, and leverage expertise in federal and state Medicaid pharmacy regulations to identify opportunities for optimizing medication therapy, improving patient outcomes, and generating program value.

This highly collaborative position requires an independent, multidisciplinary pharmacist capable of working across agency departments.

Must be a current Pharmacist or have the ability to attain licensure in Virginia within first 3 months.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Experience in managed care pharmacy.

Experience in working with and analyzing pharmacy claims data and interpretation.

Experience in designing and implementing audits.

Experience with Microsoft suites.

Considerable experience in creating standards and evaluating healthcare reports.

Considerable experience in working with state and federal regulations.

Considerable experience managing multiple priorities and projects concurrently to meet deadlines.

Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.

Considerable experience creating reports and presentations to convey complex information.

Current Pharmacist License with the ability to attain licensure in Virginia within first 3 months.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Considerable experience in project management.

Considerable experience in multiple pharmacy practice settings.
