Description

Missoula College at the University of Montana is seeking applicants to join our program within the Department of Business & Technology. Qualified individuals are invited to apply for a Clinical Instructor position, with the primary role of delivering both online and classroom and hands-on lab instruction, to join our team providing high quality education, training, and mentorship to students in our Business & Technology, Accounting/Business Management Programs.

Missoula College offers degrees, certificates and workforce training across disciplines in the area of Accounting/Business Management Programs, including;

  • Two Year Associate of Applied Science in Accounting Technology
  • One Year Certificate of Applied Science in Accounting Fundamentals
  • Two Year Associate of Applied Science in Business Management
  • One Year Certificate of Applied Science in Sales and Marketing
  • Two Year AS General, Business Concentration

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assume primary responsibility for teaching assigned accounting and business classes and exercise oversight on all courses assigned, in the  area of expertise within Accounting Technology, including review, development, and/or enhancement or curriculum and learning exercises.
  • Participate in the overall strategic development and implementation of the mission, goals, and objectives of the unit, as well as program pathways for related degrees, certificates, and workforce training.
  • Participate in on-going program assessment and work within team to develop plans to improve program coursework, delivery, and student success.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the industry and related professions as well as current educational methodologies. Ensure that units of instruction follow syllabi which clearly state measurable objectives, student activities, learning resources, time allotment, grading criteria, and student evaluation methods.
  • Earn and maintain knowledge, credentials, and experience in multiple related industry programs.
  • Engage in learning, training, or professional development opportunities on emerging industry trends, technology, teaching pedagogy, curriculum development in areas related to program goals and teaching assignments.
  • Serve in advisory role for related student organizations and groups, student competitions, or other projects related to the program and curriculum.
  • Participate in Industry advisory board to provide program updates, curriculum improvement assistance, and facilitate Industry participation.
  • Ensure training aids, tools, and equipment are prepared for use in the classroom and lab. 

Qualifications

 

  • Associate Degree and a minimum of four years related industry experience, or demonstratable equivalent progressive career experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Industry experience in fundamental accounting methodologies for cash and accrual-based accounting, business transaction analysis and financial statement preparation including general ledger management and payroll processing, managerial accounting, income tax fundamentals, government and non-profit accounting, QuickBooks, personal and business finance.
  • Competency using Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Expected to learn and utilize the University of Montana learning management system for classes as well as grading and attendance;
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff.
  • The ability to work and solve problems collaboratively and maintain a sense of cordiality in the workplace.
