What you will do as a Safety Security Officer:                                   

• Oversees the Center’s safety and security operations, to include CCTV and alarm monitoring systems.
• Establishes and ensures compliance that meets or exceeds city, county, state, federal regulations with attention to risk and safety.
• Creates, maintains and administers all Community Center safety plans and emergency response plans, working closely with Nation Facilities, Oneida Indian Nation Police and Oneida Indian Nation Leadership to maintain the conditions and operations of the facility to the highest standard.
• Communicates and enforces safety and security policies and procedures while maintaining respect and using tact.
• Answer alarms and investigates disturbances.
• Reviews and conducts investigations into incidents and accidents to identify the root causes and contributing factors. Submits all incident reports in a timely manner to supervisor.
• Responsible for maintenance of AEDs and other emergency/first aid equipment throughout the Center.
• Schedules and conducts safety drills. Provides staff feedback and coaching.
• Assists in developing and monitoring a security operations budget to meet fiscal objectives.
• Recruits, hires, trains and develops all assigned staff and creates a positive work environment for the team; manages staff performance and creates opportunities for staff development.
• Builds a strong reputation for the Center as a positive, safe hub for the Member community.

 

To be successful as a Safety Security Officer, you'll need:

• Minimum of Associates degree or equivalent experience in relevant security or education field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with teaching and/or training in security, law enforcement, military or related field.
• Knowledge of event and building security preferred.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong judgment with nimbleness to assess risks and support effective decision-making.
• Experience in dealing with emergency situations and liability issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Willing to obtain NYS Security Guard License; possession of a valid driver’s license preferred.
• Must work a flexible schedule and to provide leadership and operational oversight on evening and weekend hours, as needed.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 30-40 lbs.
