Automotive Technician - Gardena

Job Summary and General Purpose of Position:

The Automotive Test Technician will support the IPT (Rate Monitor) Test Vehicle Fleet with Routine Maintenance, Repair, Parts Replacement, Data Acquisition Equipment Installation, Data Collection, etc. The Technician may also take part in general On-Road Testing which may include Overnight Trips.

Essential Functions:

• Instrument & collect data using Toyota proprietary data acquisition systems.
• Vehicle Parts Ordering & Inventory Management.
• Participate in and support On-Road Vehicle Evaluation – Including Overnight Trips.
• Participate In & Support Chassis Dynamometer Testing Through Set-Up & Driving – where required.
• Complete vehicle maintenance, repairs, system diagnosis (incl. electrical), parts replacement, etc.
• Re-flash vehicle software
• Communicate with Toyota Japan (TMC) & Toyota R&D Staff to process & complete IPT Vehicle Borrowing Requests.
• Submit a Daily Report summarizing daily activity, future plan, etc.
• Bi-Weekly Data Collection Schedule/Report.
• Ability to work off-site independently and Report Out Daily Summary.
• Other reports as required

Job Requirements:

• Skills/Experience- Four (4) years licensed driving experience. Minimum 3-Years Dealership Experience (including electrical diagnosis experience). Experience in diagnoses & repair Of Hybrid / Electric vehicles is a plus. Proficient w/Windows, email, MS Word. Good experience w/Excel, macros knowledge a plus. Completion of computer aptitude test demonstrating experience level. Strong experience driving an M/T vehicle. Strong understanding of electrical systems including vehicle electrical diagnosis & repair. Works well independently, without direct supervision. Capable of adapting to a continuously changing work environment. Must possess certified driving record(s) from state(s) of residence during the previous 60-month period, with no moving violations or at fault accidents in the last 3 years.  Driving record can be no more than 15 days old. Knowledge of vehicle components, systems, and operating procedures. Education- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to drive a manual transmission proficiently, as well as an automatic transmission. Ability to pass Middle Class Driver Training at the TOYOTA Arizona Proving Ground - in an M/T vehicle.
