Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. At Imagineering we think happy people make the world a better place. We are seeking a collaborative Master Planner Principal for the Pre-development Studio. We provide environmental, entitlement, infrastructure and real estate development expertise to enable smart growth and preserve future flexibility for development and expansion of our parks and resorts across the globe. The Studio is part of the globally-focused Menu and Master Planning Studio entrusted to produce, focus and advance planning and development strategies to best drive Walt Disney Parks and Resorts (WDPR) long-term plan objectives.
This position will report to the Master Planning Executive.
What You Will Do
The Master Planner Principal is responsible for defining, analyzing, planning, and implementing the predevelopment phases for the development and expansion of our theme parks and resorts around the globe. The Principal will focus on entitlements, feasibility, development potential, land use, site systems, infrastructure planning, land use planning, and development regulations, and will partner with our in-house Land Planning Studio and external creative, operational, legal, and business development teams.
With direction and oversight from the Pre-development Studio Executive, the principal will work with an integrated Pre-Development team representing seven key areas of expertise:
Leading transportation and infrastructure master planning and analysis
Acquiring and handling real estate entitlements
Leading environmental planning, stewardship, and sustainability standard processes
Sustaining long-range post-development covenants
Maintaining relationships with local and regional regulatory agencies
Supporting special projects & new business development opportunities
Leading real estate entitlement and development feasibility investigations
Core Responsibilities
The Principal may work on one or more resort portfolios and is responsible for:
Supporting Parks and Resorts development opportunities and providing strategic feedback to define the entitlement, site systems planning, land use, infrastructure, and public investment undertakings
Maintaining a consistent, yet evolving, overall vision of each property’s development potential while responding to changing market and planning conditions, internal and external creative influences, and project-specific requirements for each new development opportunity
Acting as a key strategic and business development liaison, crafting and encouraging relationships with key decision-makers
Possessing and growing an understanding of the pre-development, real estate development, and specific environmental and regulatory processes that impact planning and development strategy in each resort
Developing, reviewing, and approving work plans for all project-level efforts
Representing the Pre-development studio at the project level within Walt Disney Imagineering and with local government agencies and community groups
Defining specific external resource project scope, budget, and schedules and handling contracts process
The Master Planner Principal will also:

Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 7 years of job-related experience with major development projects or in the regulatory field
Demonstrated experience leading project pre-development processes including:
