SUMMARY:  The Maintenance Generalist responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Applicant must be willing to work overtime and weekends if required. Industrial Maintenance positions are responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of equipment to maintain continuous production. Applicant must be able to set up, adjust and break down production line machinery. Must be able to complete computerized training programs and use Tyson SAP software to document completion details of preventative maintenance routines as scheduled by the supervisor.  Must be able to read and write where required. Must be able to use math as needed to make work related computations for machinery, fluid capacities, etc. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. or more on a daily basis and be able to stand for up to 12 hours. Applicant must be willing to complete all required training for the job.


JOB DUTIES: MG01 job duties may include all of the following:

  • Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, lifting, etc. are required daily.
     

Hourly:   

  • Visual checks of various types of machinery including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic for any defects

Daily:

  • ·     Blow out the needles for the GEA injector
  • ·     Tear down equipment – lifting 60 lbs. from head height to floor
  • ·     Climbing ladders to perform tasks with tool belt, 15 lbs.
  • ·     Normal mechanical duties, turning bolts, screws to loosen or tighten with wrenches or screwdrivers,          
  •       50 lbs.
  • ·     Work in a variety of temperature ranges, from approximately 15 degrees to 105 degrees.


Weekly:

  • Visible inspections of the eye wash/showers and testing the water flow, recording the results
  • Lifting 50 lb. bags of salt from floor level to chest level
  • Remove pistons from the Marlen, 100 lbs. of pulling force on a 24” pipe wrench
  • Repairing and maintaining the various equipment on the raw and pack sides of the plant
  • Repairing and calibrating the various scale systems in the plant
  • Repairing and maintaining the pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Repairing and maintaining smokehouses
  • Repairing and maintaining the cooling doors and building structures and grounds
  •  Repairing and maintaining the wastewater house and lagoons
  • Participation in the PSM program


Monthly:

  • Visible inspections of the ladders and recording the results


Occasional:

  • Replacing electric motors, pumps, cylinders, lifting/pulling up to 100 lbs. in different positions
  • Working every other weekend for PM’s, or when production or maintenance is required.

REQUIREMENTS:


Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
Communication Skills:  Strong oral and written communication skills

PPE: Hard hat, steel toed chemical resistant boots, ear plus, safety glasses, and or face shields/side shields  if  prescription  glasses  are  worn,  apron,  sleeves,  mask,  and  disposable  gloves  for  normal operations. Cut resistant gloves and sleeves will be donned if needed. A blue frock is required in the production area.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING: Operators are trained in lockout tagout authorized to allow them to de-energize equipment when initially setting it up and when doing any work on the equipment beyond normal working procedures.  All  team  members  attend  annual  safety  training  topics.  Operators  have  been  trained<
