What will you do? A day in the life of a Sr. Manager, Development Standards (Apparel) at The North Face looks a little like this. 

As the Sr. Manager Apparel Development Standards, you will lead and support a team utilizing your advanced competence related to patternmaking, blocks pattern development, grading, Standards and SOPs, manuals, workmanship, product fit to establish and maintain product consistency for The North Face globally, include all regions. Channel your inquisitiveness to explore new product categories and lead the development, engineering, and precise execution of top-tier technologically advanced performance products.You will be responsible of establishing global standards and fit development for all regions which involves evaluating competitors’ fit and product reviews, leveraging advanced expertise in blocks pattern construction and grading, creating, and assessing fit blocks and analyzing consumer and key stakeholder feedback to ensure robust and consistent brand development standards across all regions.As a member of the global development standards leadership team, you are responsible for growing a team of experts. You will guide, support, and mentor team members and cross functional new hires (Pattern Makers / TD / Design) in pattern making and fit.Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to lead and establish Global Standards, Blocks, SOPs
  • Create Global Manual Pattern Constructions and Asia Fit Conversion Manual
  • Create Asia fit patterns conversion form Global fit to Asia fit and vice versa
  • Develop vendors’ capability on Global Technical Manuals’ and SOPs uses via training, coaching and mentoring
  • Establish and maintain Global 2D and 3D blocks pattern libraries to deliver the consistency of digital assets for internal and external use
  • Collaborate with the 3D Standard Team to ensure all blocks and fit process in 2D and 3D are aligned to TNF fit standards and guidelines
  • Revise and consolidate all POMs and grading rules where is possible
  • Support and supervise high complexity global development standard projects and calendar optimization, effective use of digital assets across development milestones and calendar from creation to consumer.
  • Lead, establish and maintain Global blocks libraries and standard grade rules to support consistency of digital assets (utilizing Gerber 2D CAD system) for internal and external use
  • Provide expertise in garment construction, garment technology, quality and fit, acting as a consultant on fit, sizing and pattern related topics
  • Drive in collaboration with the global pattern teams the basic pattern consolidation across all Regions and cross category.

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 5 years of management experience to lead a sizable team of technical experts, and 10+ years of experience in patternmaking/technical design/product development. nd professional achievements. The foundation skills you will need in this position are: 
  • Able to lead multiple projects at one time and prioritize work according to potential impact
  • Draft reports, present findings at the functional department level and to cross functional groups
  • Some overseas travel required
  • Computer skills: Gerber experience (or other pattern-making system), PLM experience, Adobe Illustrator, 3D a plus, MS Office software
  • Exceptional expertise in patternmaking, fit, construction, grading, knowledge of manufacturing processes and possess a deep and end-to-end understanding o
